It has been a while since I’ve posted. I haven’t lost interest in the site, just had other things happening. My projects haven’t received the attention I have hoped to give. And….my get up and go just hasn’t gotten up yet! Maybe it has gotten up and gone somewhere while I wasn’t looking…..
I still have the Christmas light expansion project on hold. First, I need to trim the burning bush it goes on so that the light strings will still fit properly. My garage monitoring project has had random efforts, but nothing worth documenting yet.
One issue hindering my Arduino projects is that my Windows machine no longer assigns COM ports to any Arduino boards I connect. It seems to have assigned all the new boards it feels like. I have to force a COM port assignment and then reboot. By the time I get all that done, my attention span has wandered elsewhere. I need to transfer my sketches and libraries to either my Linux machine or my fairly new MacBook Pro.
I admit to being impressed with the MacBook Pro. I find it runs Lightroom much faster than the Windows laptop when I edit RAW photos. Firefox seems to run smoother on it, too, much to my surprise. It does a lot better on Linux Mint XFCE than Windows, anyway. LibreOffice seems to like either Linux or the MacBook better as well…..which is really no surprise!
There is a post I might should consider making. After buying the MacBook Pro, I bought an iPad Pro…then an iPhone…… There’s method to my madness. My wife has an iPhone and iPad and has no ending problems with her iPad. So I got mine to be able to learn the ins and outs of iPads. Then……..I found how well it ties in with my MacBook Pro in starting something on one device and continuing in mid-stride on the other. Even Firefox does this nicely! I can browse on one device, and then pick up where I left off on the other. There are things that are not so smooth, however, and that may be food for a new post going into more (random) details as I’m adding MacOS (or whatever they call it) to my list of operating systems I currently actively use.
