Having had no chin scratching surprises, it is great to finally be able to make posts without worries that something won’t go right. I know there has really only been one actual post that was not a “testing” post, but it is great having that up with no surprises. I’m glad I made the jump to my current host as while the previous one had updated their database software, they haven’t touched the outdated PHP installation. More and more plugins need a newer version than what they have installed. WordPress itself was complaining about it, too. My current host is up to date with everything.
I guess the only “odd” thing still happening is that Microsoft Edge has trouble loading pictures at times. Firefox still performs 100% in that department in Windows and Linux. Simply refresh the page and the picture should appear. If it doesn’t, then I did something wrong and will fix it as soon as I see it. If it is a bit of brain fade on my part, it won’t show up in Firefox either!
Hopefully I’ll be activating commenting and discussion shortly after working a few things out. I may not open comments on every post, time will tell, though. I’m still contemplating installing phpBB and having a real forum again. I miss the old forum and the different areas I installed for different subjects. It had areas for computers (hardware), open source software, proprietary software, etc……and a “Back Porch” for discussing anything that came to mind, even politics. however, if I reopen the Back Porch, today’s environment dictates that politics will not be welcome.
Now to get ideas percolating for posting! there will be plenty of testing of “features”! Since things have been running smoothly after dumping the plugins that were acting up, it will be easier to find the cause of anything that breaks.
The radio in the picture is my Yaesu FTDX 101D. I “treated” myself after completion of 12 rounds of chemotherapy and surgery for pancreatic cancer. However, I currently am spending literally 99% of my time listening. One day I hope to upgrade my license once chemo fog dissipates a bit and my memory improves.
