Everything seems to be running without unexpected surprises. The word “unexpected” means any odd behavior I didn’t bring on myself (those posts simply went into the round file since I knew the cause). When I got rid of the previously mentioned plugins that were stubborn in changing the settings to some developer desired default the major mysteries disappeared.
As mentioned, there are competent independent plugins that don’t clash with each other which get the job done just as well, if not better than the ones that tried to do it all….and clashed with each other.
Here’s a test gallery to try something that didn’t work before in a post with a Featured Image (If it doesn’t load the thumbnails in Microsoft Edge or Chrome, refresh the page):
There’s really no reason to do this except to see if it will work if I want to do a gallery like this down the road. It previews fine, unlike previously with the preinstalled plugins messing each other up. Trust me, WordPress can do a lot more than what I’ve done so far. I just wanted to get the features I most likely see being used checked out and working.
