Another CMS Test Down!

I spent a couple of days trying to break in some Content Management System software I’ve used before. It didn’t lend itself to any form of working as I hoped it could. After trying everything I could think of, and any modules that even might have even come close, it simply ended up being nothing more than fancy blogging software. I just sent the entire package down the electronic round file (trash can).

Even on the old site, it really wasn’t as flexible as pounding out HTML by hand, but it at least served. I had templates and page starters for the days I did it all by hand. Maybe I’m getting too lazy to do that

One thing that I just could not reconcile myself to was that Drupal didn’t post anything except a super small thumbnail on the main index page and gave absolutely no clue that you were looking at an excerpt of the article. It didn’t have three dots “…” or anything like “Read More” to let you know there was more. My test articles frequently looked like the excerpt was all there was to the article. Pictures didn’t want to line up, however, you could easily set text to flow around pictures where it seems to not be doable here. Even following the instructions given by WordPress, I’ve been unable to get text to flow around pictures here so far. I’m sure it is my fault, not a bug – still frustrating, though. An earlier test using Joomla was even more like a rehashed blogging application.

Later, after resting a little, I have some ideas that occurred to me last night while having trouble getting to sleep. I had my port flushed this morning at the cancer center’s infusion facility and I didn’t want to oversleep…..even with an alarm set to get us up.

The deer picture was on my place in Virginia. Over time, maybe I’ll show more pictures of them taken over the years.
