I’ve played with a few different themes, and returned to one I remember using years ago when I ran a separate blog from the actual HTML website. Back then I manually “built” the site keystroke by keystroke. There is a lot going on that isn’t evident simply by looking at a page.
There was some software to assist with editing a website, but it was not user friendly and it often was easier and faster so start and write each single page by scratch. Now “page building” software seems focused on opening your own e-commerce site, not hobby focused. Gone are the days of using a text editor to literally build your page or pages, and then using FTP to upload it and everything else needed to make it work.
I still have much of my old original site on the server and hopefully will get it going again. Many of the URLs will need to be changed so that it will behave like it once did.
Anyway, it is fun thinking back to the “good old days”.
