I’ve been trying different browsers on different operating systems to check for odd behavior. So far things have behaved. Strangely enough, as mentioned earlier, the site seems to load very quickly using only the caching app that is in this installation of WordPress. There is one plugin that optimizes photos, but nothing else. It seems to behave itself with the other plugins.
The standard cache settings disable cache for admins who are logged in. Uncached pages load faster on my new host than “optimized” pages on the previous host. Pages cached by the included caching software with this WordPress installation really load quickly. Hopefully I won’t get suckered on on cache and optimized loading claims!
One plugin that updated this morning may have resolved the errors that show up when I return to edit a published page. I haven’t tried this yet. Even so, acknowledging the error resolves things…no biggie.
There is a new problem! Not all images in my media library want to show up properly now. So, there will be yet more testing trying to figure out what went wrong…
