I haven’t gotten around to doing as much as I wanted lately. However, I was able to get some good bird pictures in the snow after it cleared up. I forget if I’ve mentioned getting a snowblower. It definitely paid for itself this first snow! It is a PowerSmart brand, it isn’t a mainstream name to my knowledge, but it works very well. The electric start Briggs and Stratton engine runs fine. they say it is designed for snow use. It is 24 inches wide and handles snow up to 24 inches deep. the average snow depth here was about 11 inches, but there were some drifts around back between the house and garage that were higher than the front of the snowblower. Keeping it moving on a slow forward speed got things done when it got deep.
Back to the birds! My wife and I both enjoy watching God’s birds entertain. I keep five feeders filled up. One also keeps two slabs (whatever they’re called) of suet on the sides. Without further ado, here’s a gallery of the pictures I felt came out the best.
We were happy to see so many cardinals! It had been a long time since any were seen at all. Hopefully the pictures will speak for themselves.
Looking at the gallery thumbnails, I realized I didn’t bring brightness up the same on each picture. No biggie, they still look fine to us. I used my D850 with a Nikkor 200-500mm 1:5.6 lens and took the pictures through a front window.
