Slight Detour?

What should have been a routine checkup with my oncologist wasn’t as routine as it should have been. It turned out that my heart decided to put on an afib show as the tech hooked me up to record my vitals before seeing the oncologist. I’m thankful they don’t mess around with these things. I went into afib the night after my Whipple Procedure for pancreatic cancer….that stuck me in intensive care for two weeks (that and waiting for my stomach to decide to function again – neither really unusual after such a procedure they say).  Normally having an NG tube isn’t ICU worthy, but after the afib, they decided to keep me there as I was still having a few afib issues.

Back to my oncology visit leading to today’s post. They had me set up with the first available cardiology appointment. I was thrilled as my wife and daughter see the same doctor and they really trust him. He set me up with an echo cardiogram and to have a Holter monitor waiting for me to put on later that day. The echo didn’t show up anything earth shattering. I will keep the Holter monitor for 14 days before removing it and sending it in to be downloaded and read. The first few days have provided plenty of reasons I’m glad the doctor ordered one to be worn. Honestly, the potential next steps may not be fun depending on what they really find. I’ve logged several events so far.

The rest of the current events simply involved putting up Christmas decorations with my wife. the outside lights are my area of so-called expertise. We have downsized everything in the way of decorations this year. That’s fine….putting things away until next year won’t be as hard! We still found things left over from last year that simply stayed in place for this year!

I have a couple wireless flash units coming to play with. I have a transmitter/controller already. So there will likely be more photos to share of mostly random messing around playing with the flashes. I’ll have three total to play with. Next up might be a flash setup for macro photography if I can’t use the wireless flashes. The Christmas light project I’ve mentioned earlier is on the burner for next year now since nothing got done this year. That and beautifying some present projects is on the burner for this year.

Maybe getting my heart taken care of, whatever it needs will help with the “round tuit” issue having so many projects, but so little drive to get them done. Days past saw me tackling one project and anxious to jump on the next one. Hopefully those days will return soon!
