The picture is a custom 404 error graphic I made up for the theme I decided to not use. One of the features of that theme was the ability to design your own picture for the 404 error (page not found). It just feels right to use here.
No, I don’t believe I’ve lost my marbles (they’re somewhere with some childhood toys). I figure the only way to get to know how to set things up is to do like the Three Stooges when they got stranded in outer space: Push buttons! So I end up with things that weren’t here before. Things that probably are better off never coming to the surface.
On a more serious note: Something is still causing hiccups at random. I’ll be shutting down more plugins so the format of the site may change with no notice. I may even put a stock WordPress theme up to see the errors will go away. I have no idea yet what happens when I disable the plugins using these Gutenberg blocks. Things will most likely look very strange with most features simply ceasing to exist.
I’m still leaning toward a cache issue causing data corruption, likely two versions trying to exist in the same place at the same time. There is nothing to validate this except that the problems started very shortly after I installed an optimization plugin that used a cache. There is already one active on the server (I can disable it if I want). My dashboard complains that pages render “slower” than what makes the developers of WordPress happy, but in the “real world” of trying different browsers on different operating systems, things seem to run much faster! Even the Dashboard loads much faster.
As usual, expect something to break again….hopefully not big time!
