Maybe I’m getting impatient, but I went ahead and activated the second plugin that uses Gutenberg modules. Also, after playing with a couple different themes, this one, HybridMag, has more to offer and seems to work much better with widgets and WordPress in general. The other themes I tried reported errors with several widgets and of course refused to load the content!
The blog seems to still be running more quickly than previously without the cache optimization plugin! Site health complains that it is running a little slower than the developers think is “good”. Frankly, I’m not worried about the claimed 100 milliseconds since it still loads faster overall. Before, there was a several second delay before the page rendered, now it begins to render more quickly than the big eCommerce and social media sites! Of course, I don’t use tracking or other yuppy content (including eye candy) here.
So here’s waiting to see if things are running better. Oh, and time to play with new widgets (and really throw monkey wrenches around into the works).
